Today was the Open day of Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts and my first attempt to bring my creations to a larger audience without any digital device. Yes, today for the first time people were able to see, feel, compliment and buy my creations almost at the time. Below a picture of the table I occupied. The displays worked super and again a big thank you to Mark from www.signenmeer.nl for the great foam board.

TheCrazySmile at Amsterdam house of Arts and Crafts
I created these BagStrapExtenders to pimp and extend the shoulder strap of a bag. I used vegetable tanned leather I stamped and painted. On the back I glued a nice green color leather. Of course you can also use these as key rings.

Today I will be making some small stuff like key rings and hope to finish another bag. After this I consider myself ready for tomorrow.

I have been creating some new versions of TheCrazyTube to put up for sale first next Sunday! My first sale from a booth! Let’s see how that goes. Below you see two of them.
TheCrazyTube is a leather case designed to carry and protect your Olloclip iPhone lens. TheCrazyTube can of course be used for many other things. I myself use it to carry my coins and it just looks cool on your bag.

The Leather Bag for William from Out of Area is ready and will find William next week in Bosnia. William and the rest of the Out of Area crew are in Bosnia next week to give 50.000 kids a day never to forget. I wish them success and a lot of FUN!
The bag is made of leather and the Out of Area logo is painted on the leather with Fiebings oil dye. To get a good result on the logo I used a template that was kindly created by www.signenmeer.nl. The model of the bag comes from a simple plastic bag. Even the bottom works the same way. On the inside there is a small pocket for something like a phone. The bag has no lining.

On June 9th 2013 I will have a table at the Opening of the Amsterdam house of arts & Crafts. This will be the first time I am selling my creations this way, so I am challenged with creating displays and decoration to make my creations stand out.

This is the display I created for TheCrazyTube. TheCrazyTube is designed to carry and prtect the Olloclip iPhone lens, but it is also great for coins, earplugs, etc… The next on the list is creating a few mood boards with pictures of other items I created.

Last April I spend a long weekend in Bosnia with Out of Area. A great and impressive experience. Out of Area facilitated a Team Development Experience I was part of. While we were there we helped making necessary improvements to a small school to give the kids a better and safer place to learn. Besides Team Building Out of Area is very active in organizing events for kids in Bosnia. Check out their website for more info about the great things they do. www.outofarea.nl (Dutch site)
On my trip to Bosnia I was wearing my leather bag with TheCrazySmile logo and this bag was noticed by the chief of Out of Area. He asked me to create a bag for him with the Out of Area logo on it. Below you can see the result of adding the logo to the leather for the front of the bag. The bag will be finished before June 4 to make a trip to Bosnia. Of course I will post pictures of the finished bag.

This handmade leather bag was a great project with a lot of “first times”. It was my first creation that started with an existing pattern. It was the first time I created a bag for someone I did not know before she asked me to create the bag and it was the first bag I sold. It is also the first bag I created that has a lining (with pockets). AND I liked doing it enough to want more. So if you are interested let me know.

My Leather bags do not have lining with all kinds of pockets. For different reasons I do not like them. One of the most important ones is caused by having many bags and moving my stuff around when I switch bags. This is a lot easier when all the small stuff is gathered in an etui and not in all kinds of pockets in the bag itself. So I make leather etuis to make my life easy.
And I like to make these simple leather etuis. This purple one can also be attached to your belt or used with a shoulder strap.
I you would like to have something just like this (different colors and kinds of leather / zippers possible) please let me know and we will figure out a good price.

This is the first leather bag I created by starting with a pattern I received from a customer. The pattern is made for fabric and not for leather, so I figured a test before the final would be a good idea. Always nice when a test turns out so well.
Now I will make I few more adjustments to the pattern for the final bag I hope to finish next week.
